WATER AND SANITATION

Nanze will begin it's efforts in two villages in Malawi, covering nearly 7,500 people.

Dedza

The two villages of Chikwasa and Linthipe represent over 7,500 people.

Prior to Nanze's efforts,  Chikwasa’s only access to water was a nearby dam a few kilometers from the village – a water supply which was shared by grazing livestock. Out of 11 boreholes, Linthipe is currently getting water from only 3 functioning boreholes. There are no facilities for waste and sanitation.

Progress to Date:

  • In 2013, a new water well was installed in Chikwasa

  • The Linthipe pig farm gained access to water and electricity in support of Nanze's livelihood project

  • In 2019, 4 sanitation facilities were built

Next Steps:

  • Additional borehole and latrines will be constructed in conjunction with the groundbreaking of the school

  • Nanze is in the process of researching water filtration systems
